Reform spent four times as much as the other three parties combined, then went quiet

Exact spend from Meta's Ad Library Report, 29 October to 4 November, across each party's national page, leaders and local pages. All parties on one scale. These figures come from before Reform UK's switch-off.

Reform UK£86,660
Conservative and Unionist Party£15,133
Labour Party£5,675
Scottish National Party£776
  • Kemi Badenoch's own page spent £9,625, still more than the national Conservative page (£5,508).
  • Over 90 days the Green Party of England and Wales is the second-biggest national page (£128,600, behind Reform UK's £653,000), but it has spent nothing in the last week.

  • Also live: the Norway wealth-fund comparison (90K–100K) and the "buried 1974 report" video (40K–45K).
Method

The Scottish National Party is collecting declaration sign-ups and making an economic case for independence, shown only in Scotland and to lookalike audiences on every ad. The format mix is unchanged at half video, with the declaration film doing the persuading and static energy cards carrying the cost-of-living argument.

  • Also live: "Back Kemi's Plan - Scrap Inheritance Tax on your family home" (70K–80K, £900–£999, still shown to a 100–1K audience) and two Budget attacks, including a Reeves video (15K–20K).
Method

The Conservative and Unionist Party is list-building on a single dividing line, with Kemi Badenoch pictured arms folded in front of armoured vehicles, and its ads are almost all static graphics (1 video in 8). With Reform off air, the Conservatives are now the largest right-of-centre advertiser live on Meta, though their national page spent £5,508 in the week to 4 November against Reform's £86,660.

  • On Google, the YouTube mayoral-candidate video ran from 4 to 6 November and finished on 15K–20K impressions (£50–£100).
Method

The Labour Party is still introducing Andy Burnham and collecting sign-ups rather than attacking, with a conference-stage photo as the lead creative and video carrying the care-service policy. Every ad excludes its own supporter lists, which points to recruiting new contacts rather than mobilising existing ones.

Targeting

Targeting barely moved: one seat added by the Conservatives, none by Reform

Advertisers' own audience settings in the Ad Library, 29 October to 4 November, so before Reform UK's switch-off.

Party7-day spendWhole nation or UKPostcode sectorsPostcode bundlesSectors cut outOwn lists in / outLookalikes
Reform UK£86,660 (99 ads)32% (UK, excluding Northern Ireland)at least 67% (1,962 sectors)—32% (1,892 sectors)0% / 81%0%

Scottish National Party£889 (10 ads)100% (Scotland)0%—0%32% / 0%100%

The shares overlap and don't add up to 100%. Reform UK is postcode-led, the Conservatives combine postcode lists with contact lists and lookalikes, and Labour and the SNP target whole nations; the only change since 6 November is one seat added to the Conservative lists, Weald of Kent (172 seats, against Reform's unchanged 252, with 36 in both).

Castle Point: Reform UK still targets all 9 of its sectors and part of SS13 2 (now in 58% of its spend, up from 52%) and cuts them out of its UK-wide ads (32%); the Conservatives don't list it among their itemised sectors, but they also used 3 un-itemised postcode bundles, so it can't be ruled out; Labour and the SNP don't target it.

What to watch

Two things to check tomorrow

  • Whether Reform UK's silence is a pause between campaigns or a longer break. It has spent £653,000 over 90 days, and its next postcode lists will show what it is aiming at.
  • Whether the Conservatives move into the space Reform has left on welfare, tax and defence, and whether Farage's personal page carries more after Remembrance Sunday.
